Mail Out Ballots
The council has officially sent out the mail out ballots for having propane added to the council building. This has been discussed at length and was voted to go out to a ballot to the whole community. About a couple years ago, the previous electric stove broke and was replaced with a propane one for the purpose of being able to use it during power outages if needed. However, we do not have a propane hookup at this time. Having a cook stove, also requires a hood vent, and it was actually cheaper to have a microwave/vent combo installed (which also frees up counter space). These are some basic improvements we can make to the council building that are functional and user friendly. The board did have issues getting the correct and complete list from the borough that we needed for sending out the ballots. We sent out a first batch, and noticed that many were missing… We were able to get the complete list with the help of a community member, and we just sent out another batch today (which hopefully covers everyone else). If you do not get a mail out ballot, please contact us. We would love to announce the results at the next meeting, so please have them postmarked by November 8th.
Elections
It is that time of year (yes already) that we have board elections happening at our November meeting. We have two seats up for term, and two people were nominated: Kalee Bowen and Jeff Myers. We would absolutely love to see as many people come to the meeting as possible and place your vote in person. However, if you are unable to make it please do an absentee ballot. Even if you are not involved in community matters and although we are small community, your voice and vote absolutely matters. It is important to keep our community alive and contribute when we can. To request an absentee ballot please contact the election committee and they can mail you a ballot. You can email mstockak@gmail.com or refer to the phone numbers provided in the officer election notice (was sent out in the mail).
Board Member Resignation
At the October meeting Cassie announced that she plans to resign, but is willing to stay on so we can find a replacement by December. We need a nominations for our November meeting! We need your help spreading the word and finding someone interested in helping our community. The position (according to bylaws) does require that you have lived in Chickaloon for at least a year (and are registered to vote etc). The current secretary duties include taking notes during the meeting and typing them up, as well as some administrative duties like emailing those minutes to the borough.
The board wishes you all the very best and hope you are staying warm.
