Special Meeting to discuss the Fire Department Restructuring, April 22 at 7:00pm at the Chickaloon Community Center

Hello Chickaloon Community! Due to lack of quorum tonight we were unable to hold our regular Council Meeting. However there are some time sensitive issues that need to be addressed immediately.

Spring break up is here! Woohoo!! That also means that fire season is just around the corner and we currently do not have any coverage for our community (other than Forestry). This is something that really concerns most of us and leaves us worried about the worst case scenario. Over the last 5 years we have had the security of having a volunteer fire department to help out in times of need. This last Fall the department did dissolve and is no more. There is a committee that has been working on putting together a new structure and the feasibility of having a department again. In order to move forward, we need the input of the community, that means you! If we do not address this immediately we will not be able to get up off the ground in time for Summer. We will be holding a special meeting just to discuss the fire department and the viability of starting over. The goal is for an in room vote to move forward or not.

As a side note (because it is time sensitive) the public comment ends on the 20th for the hydroelectric dams. There is one proposed to be put in Chickaloon (Boulder Creek) and also Glacier View (Caribou Creek) for Chugach Electric.
