Chickaloon Community Fire Department Meeting minutes

DATE : August 13th 2025

Officers Present: Jeff Myers (Chairman), John J Vessey (Member at Large), Cindy Hotz (Treasurer), and Kalee Bowen (Vice Chair)

Community Members: 27 plus members in room and 2 on zoom

Meeting called to order at: 6:02

  • Skip gave a history of the Chickaloon Fire Department
  • What goes into the keeping the department operational, the jobs needed and personnel
  • Who is currently volunteering and the issue of aging members
  • How many volunteers we need to feasibly run the apparatus
  • The department needs help administratively. An option to do this would be to pass the duties to the council board
  • It was also brought up to get the training on the website
  • The consensus is the department needs 14 able bodied volunteers to run calls
  • It was brought up that outreach out to the community and recruitment needs to be improved to have a more widespread reach
