CHICKALOON COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

DATE: April 9, 2025

Officers: Jeff Myers (Chair), Kalee Bowen (Vice-Chair), John J Vessey

(Member at Large), Cindy Hotz (Treasurer), and Blanche Roe (Secretary)

  1. Call to order  7:00 pm
    II. Pledge of Allegiance: Sheryal
    III. Approval of Agenda as Posted: 1st by Janie, 2nd by John
    IV. Minutes from last meeting (2/12/24): Blanche Roe
    V. Approval of minutes: 1st Janie, 2nd Connie
    VI. Announcements & Guest Speakers:

A.Amanda Dial from ASRC: Not much has changed. DNR confirmed that comments are in the final review. Rig work will be pushed to Q3 and Q4 hoping to do little disturbances to summer activities.
B. Blanche made a comment that people need to clean up after themselves when using the community center.

  1. Kaylee said John Jay posted there is a rehabilitation workshop for plantes.
  2. Austin did plumbing work that still needs to be completed.

VII. Reports and Correspondence:
A. Treasurer’s Report: Cindy Hotz
B. Road Service Area (RSA) 31: Dave Vancleve Said that if the water in the road bothers you to call it in.
C. Community Assistance Program (CAP): Jeff announced that the cap program is in the works for Cindy’s about the fire sticks and Janie for the picnic tables which was voted to move forward. Voted in room 10 years none, one year all in favor o no;s 4.25.01. Voted on purchasing picnic tables since on sale now all was in favor. 4/25/02.
D. Fire Dept. Report: Wesley Daniles, Talked about the community covering insurance cost for the fire department for ten years and we can’t predict what income the community would have year to year to committee to that. It was voted in the room to not send it out to the community for a vote. No new fires at this time. 5:30pm FD meeting date to be determined.
E. Crime Watch Report: Kalee Bowen_ No comment
VIII. Public Comment: There still is an abandoned vehicle on holler way since january.
IX. Old Business:

  1. Trash clean up sign up sheets are at the post office and bags are at the community center for pick up. Last day for clean up is May 15th.
  2. Community voted for Janie and Cindy’s CAP proposals to be approved and Skip’s is on hold.
  3. Pizza will be at the May’s council meeting.
  1. New Business: Majestic Ski moved from taking off from right next to the highway to across from the post office and doing flyovers was a noise disturbances for the community.
    A. Garage sale the 18th and 19th at the community center.
