- Announcements & Guest Speakers:
- Amanda Dial – Update from ASRC: No work will be scheduled until issues with DNR and public comment have been resolved. There is no specific time period at this time. Road restrictions apply between mid-March to the middle of June. The project may end up occurring in the summertime. Due to the funding being applied, it is best not to wait until next winter to complete the project.
- Chickaloon PD: Donna and LD gave updates; Tribal criminal codes are now set up. New officers are being hired to help with drug issues going on in the villages. Villages do have VSPO’s but they are unarmed. There have been multiple highway shutdowns due to icy roads and car accidents. Working with Palmer to become a new dispatch center. LD spoke about human trafficking cases. They are working in correlation with My House. LD gives a lot of presentations to schools and parents/guardians offering whole home monitoring, cell phone monitoring etc. They work with DEPT of law and DA’s to take on cases that are found. Mile 58 now has a task force to slow down the constant drug movement that is happening there. There will be a presentation on Feb 18 at Point Blank 6177 E Mt Heather Way at 7pm for human trafficking awareness about online exploitation, which is more prevalent in the Valley. Chickaloon PD has been helping with a lot of locked keys in cars and they have ordered an entry kit for those situations.
- Jeff announced that Eowyn Ivy, a local author, just released her 3rd book.
VII. Reports and Correspondence:
- Treasurer’s Report: Cindy Hotz: Read by Kalee
- Road Service Area (RSA) 31: Dave Vancleve: no updates
- Community Assistance Program (CAP): 1 CAP project that Cindy turned in. Summary of the project is to provide members of the community with a chimney fire stick. Timeline would be ASAP. $27 per household. Benefits the entire community. Up to 200 fire sticks would cost $5311. These sticks can extinguish chimney fires in 43 seconds, reduce the oxygen by 40% in under 2min, and reduce temps by 53% in under 2min. Jim suggested adding fire blankets to the project. We would have a sign up sheet for members of the community and they will be kept at the community center for members to pick up.
- Fire Dept. Report: Skip Stock, The fire department received a forestry grant for $9999, which Wesley put a lot of work into. There was one call for a Uhaul trailer tire fire up on Chickaloon Hill. That fire was put out quickly.
- Crime Watch Report: Kalee Bowen, nothing to report
VIII. Public Comment: None
- Old Business:
- Special Election to fill vacant seat on the board for the remainder of the term. Blanche Roe is running to take Cassie’s position. Results were Blanche 7, write-ins for Barb Wayner 6.

- There have been recent issues with correspondence to the council. It is best to address any issues through the email rather than messaging council members personally. All board members have access to the email and messages will be responded to in a timely manner.
- New Business:
- Discussion on whether donations should come out of CAP funds: Skip proposed that we vote on donating the fire dept a max of $1000 per year, and match for a 1 time donation to other charities throughout the year at a max of $250 each.
