CHICKALOON COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

- Announcements & Guest Speakers:
- Kendra- Brought a poster about the salmon symposium. It will be posted in the back. For the Water Setback, all public comments need to be submitted by Jan 21st.
- Drill Lake Well: Back in the 1920’s an oil and gas well was drilled next to Drill Lake. The well was never properly closed and continues to leak Methane into the air today. ASRC was hired by the state to plug and abandon orphan wells within Alaska. Amanda Dial is the project manager with ASRC and was able to join via Zoom, along with Ben Bitler, the project manager, from PRUHS Construction. PRUHS was contracted by ASRC to do the road work that is necessary to allow the large equipment needed to properly close the well. Amanda and Ben were able to properly explain the full aspect of the project and were able to address questions and concerns from the community members. Public notice was updated with more thorough information and public comment was extended to Jan 2nd. A full description of the project plan and estimated timeline is posted to the Chickaloon Community Council website and at the post office.

- Treasurer’s Report: Cindy Hotz
- Road Service Area (RSA) 31: Dave VanCleve: Abandoned vehicle on the road has been reported to the RSA manager. Issues like abandoned vehicles can be reported to the problem reporter.
- Community Assistance Program (CAP): An application was received for an HPAC donation. However, In 2019 a resolution was made stating there is a limit of a one time $250 that we will donate to organizations, groups or charities. The application is for a donation of $500. There was a lot of discussion regarding the donation and the use of the CAP funds. A motion was made by Skip to make an exception to the past resolution dollar limit of $250 for a donation of $500 to go to HPAC. First by Pat, 2nd by Kendra. All in favor: 15 All opposed: 3 12.24.01 Cia suggested for new business to discuss in the event that we make donations to other organizations in the future that a donation of matching funds are made to the fire department.

- Crime Watch Report: No reports
VIII. Public Comment: Janie brought a Christmas card for our DOT workers that keep our road clear for everyone to sign. She will be giving them a goodie basket thanking them for their hard work. Warren spoke up about how he appreciates everyone on the board and how nice it is to attend a civil meeting.
- Old Business: Still looking for nominations to replace Cassie’s position. Marcia nominated Blanche Roe to take the seat.
- New Business: None
- Agenda Item for Next Meeting (01/08/2025): Will speak about donations for fire department.
