- Announcements & Guest Speakers:
- HPAC (Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center) Dave Rector presented sharing information about HPAC’s role. They are a nonprofit that performs forecasting and gives advisory information for avalanches and/or the threat of avalanches in Hatcher Pass. They put out avalanche forecasts three times a week. They do have an Instagram and a Facebook page. Currently they hold Avalanche Awareness classes for all 9th graders in all the high schools in the valley. They always need volunteers and they do accept donations.
- Reports and Correspondence
- Treasurer’s Report: Cindy Hotz, Reviewed the year end report for Nov 1st-Oct 31. Cindy also broke down the budget into Operating, Maintenance, and Miscellaneous.
- Road Service Area (RSA) 31: No updates at this time
- Community Assistance Program (CAP): There is an updated form now available and a new project coming soon to be presented.
- Fire Dept. Report: No reports
- Crime Watch Report: Janie spoke up about our community watch signs and how they really make a big difference. There are more signs available at the post office if anyone would like any for their property. Allie asked about why the Chickaloon Village Police Department is driving by regularly. Donna Anthony explained that they are there to offer help and mediate if there are any issues. She also shared that they have had 1295 calls since last month to help in different situations. They cover the area from Eklutna Bridge to Glacier View. They will also be hiring 7 new officers, 2 specifically for the Chickaloon area.
VIII. Public Comment: Kendra, Waterbody Setback, Drafts are complete and will go out to the public for comment for 2 months and then back to the board for final review. Basically any home closer than 45 ft to a lake will not be legal. The goal is to protect water quality.
- Old Business:
- Community Center Water/Gas Update: All equipment has arrived
- Community Center Maintenance and Repair Update: Discussed more flooring options and gathering more information. Will discuss adding the log refinishing to the formal maintenance budget in the future.
- New Business:
- a) Election results: Jeff 26, Kalee 22 Elected for a 2 year term.
- b) Stove and Propane Installation: 48 yes, 13 no
- Nominations for Cassie’s seat on Council: none at this time, need to keep talking to people and find someone willing to step up.
- Agenda Item for Next Meeting (12/11/2024): HPAC donation
